EGGERT SHOE STORE This early building of the village was erected by Carl Keilde, a tinsmith in 1862. Lateritwas rented by Gustav Meister who used it as his first printing shop. Later it was used by a Mr. Witteretter for a harness shop. Fred Eggert bought it in 1907 and operated a shoe store in addition to a harness business. It continued as a shoe store after the death of Mr. Eggert, his wife carrying on the business. It was then purchased by the St. John's congregation and used as an education build- ing and church office. The building had a fire in the early 2000's and was razed.
