The Lorain County History Center offers exhibits and a research library dedicated to the history of the county and region. The center is located in former Horace Starr mansion which was built in 1857. This is the oldest structure on Elyria's storied Washington Avenue, and both the mansion and the carriage house are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
