This Wagner was one of the houses rented out by Arthurdale school teachers. From 1934 through 1936. noted Progressive educator Elsie Ripley Clapp designed the school’s curriculum and served as its principal. She believed that a school was the center of a community and that teachers, if possible, should live in and be part of community life.
