Backstory and Context
Text-to-speech Audio
The Alton A.W.L. Chapter House was also built by Helfensteller, Hirsch and Watson, but was considered to be a arts and crafts style Chapter House and included a bathroom, which was uncommon for most residential buildings. While construction was started in 1910, the Chapter House was not completed until November of 1911 due to financial difficulties of the League.
Like with the construction of the other house, this chapter house followed the same plan and consisted of a one story structure containing an assembly room, salesroom, and kitchen. Unlike other A.W.L. chapter houses, this structure had a bathroom and a garage added to it along with the interior layout being changed after it became a private residence.
