The exact age of this house is unknown but likely dates to about 1920. The earliest available records indicate it was purchased by Ransom and Maggie Champion from Dr. Hazelwood in 1925. Like most Leander residents at this time, the Champion's were farmers but they supplemented their income by renting rooms to boarders, many of them local school teachers.
Though the house now sits at the northeast corner of Brushy and W. South Streets it was originally located just across the road at the southeast corner. The house was moved from its original location in 2008 to make room for the gas station to expand. The house was moved though the gas station expansion never occurred.
Today the house is owned by the city of Leander and is home to the Leander Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.
