Thomas Evans and his wife Lavinia Marley moved from Bagdad to Leander. Many Bagdad citizens moved to the new town of Leander after the Austin and Northwestern Railroad Company opened a new train station in 1882. The exact date of the building or opening of the hotel is unknown but it was likely around the mid to late 1880s. Lavinia sold the hotel shortly after her husband passed away in 1899. The building was then demolished a few years later.
