It is the night of Oct. 14th, 1912 and President Roosevelt leaves the Hotel Gilpatrick, on his way to speak at the Milwaukee Auditorium. As the President climbed into his waiting car, John Schrank reached out with a .38 revolver and shot the President once in the right breast before Roosevelt's stenographer, Elbert E. Martin, was able to tackle and subdue him.
