Adell Durbin was born in 1862 and died in 1911. She was a member of one of Stow's pioneer families, the Wetmores. Adell married Robert Durbin in 1880, and they had two daughters, Jessie (1880-1936) and Lottie (1889-1939).

Adell was active in the Stow Church of Christ and a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. The Adell Durbin Park, a municipal park and arboretum, is named after her.

She is buried in Section C of the Stow Cemetery.


Adell Edmunds Durbin (1862-1911) was a member of one of the Stow's pioneer families, the Wetmores. She married Robert Durbin in 1880 and they had two daughters: Jessie (1880-1936) and Lottie (1889-1939).

Adell was known as a happy and spirited member of the local community. She was active in the Stow Church of Christ (the oldest Stow church, now called First Christian Church) and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church, and continued on later when it became the Christian Women's Board of Missions.

According to the Stow Culture Club records, Adell was "a faithful member... and gave much of her time to its early development."

In 1948, 29 acres of land was turned into the Adell Durbin Park and Arboretum, and it has become a popular place for hiking and holding picnics and family events.

Resolution from Minutes of Christian Women's Board of Missions, Upon the death of Adell Durbin:

"Whereas. Our Heavenly Father in his infinite wisdom and love removed from our midst Jan. 22, 1911 our Sister Mrs. Della Durbin.

Whereas. She was one of the most faithful members and co-worker in our auxiliary and in all departments of Church service. Seldom being absent from our auxiliary meetings even when in ill health.

Resolved- That we cherish her memory and may her faithfulness be a greater incentive to us in the Master's service.

Resolved- That as a society we extend to the bereaved family our deepest sympathy. That a copy of these resolutions be presented to them. Also placed on the minutes of our Society. " - Mrs. A. A. Wetmore, Com.
