Steam Trains were the most commonly used train for a long time. Overtime steam trains slowly started to fade away and there were limited amounts of them that still existed. Most trains now are mainly powered by steel, diesel or electrical power. With the advancement of technology there are only a few running steam engines that are in New York today and one of them is the Arcade and Attica Railroad.

The Arcade and Attica Railroad is a short line railroad that known as one of the last common carriers that transports trains and freight still today. The Arcade and Attica Station is considered a historical station because of its long lasting history. This station consists of historical artifacts inside and a gift shop and snack bar that you can shop in while you are waiting for your train.
The tour itself is as historical as it gets, you start the tour off by buying your ticket and then boarding the train where your ticket is punched. After the ticket is punched you go on a ninety minute historical tour that takes you through a day in the "modern life".
When you are on the tour the conductor gives you historical information about the train, the history of trains and then the history of the surrounding areas you are passing. There are also special excursions that are offered on this railroad that are seasonal just like their holiday themed ones close to Christmas.
