The Dr. Jacob Spungin Memorial is located at the intersection of Oxford Street North, Wethered Street, and Orchard Street. Dr. Jacob Spungin was a Jewish physician who lived and worked in Auburn, MA. He began his practice in a small office at 1 Wethered Street in 1945. In 1950, he relocated his practice to 417 Pakachoag Street. He served the town for 40 years. He was involved with youths and the Masonic fraternity. There are two markers at the monument, the first one being the original. The second marker was added by Boy Scout Troop 101 in 1987. Inscription: “Dedicated to Dr. Jacob Spungin on June 27, 1987 by Boy Scout Troop 101 of Auburn in gratitude for his years of service.”
