Backstory and Context
Text-to-speech Audio
Winter Garden Cemetery has buried many Winter Garden citizens since 1924, the first one being just a 16 month old baby girl. This cemetery was at first segregated, having certain plots for white people and other for black people. Thankfully, segregation laws were later lifted. It now offers all grieving families beautiful, scenic resting places for their loved ones. While sitting on 37 acres, it has 7,708 spaces and most are either reserved or filled. For awhile they thought of maybe closing the cemetery due to capacity reasons. Instead, they have expanded the cemetery and added 400 more burial sites.
