Lustron House
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The Lustron Corporation of Columbus, OH manufactured enamel-clad steel homes from 1947-1950. The futuristic homes had radiant heat, built-in components, and low maintenance exteriors. The original concept of the Lustron Company was to provide low-cost, quality housing for veterans of WWII. The homes were delivered by flatbed trailer and constructed on-site within days. Approximately 2680 were built across the U.S. and Vestal is fortunate to have two small models and this larger model.
