Lyons Historic Depot
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The historic depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1885 as the final stop along the Denver, Utah, and Pacific Railroad, later becoming the Union Pacific Railroad. In its history, it had never flooded. At the time of the flood, it was being used as the Lyons Depot Library. The 2013 flood destroyed the inside of the building, requiring a move of the library to two different locations before the new library district was formed and the building completed. The historic renovation earned the Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation in 2016. It currently houses the Boulder County substation.
