The 8th street tunnel is a relic now, sealed but accessible by tour, ostensibly. But it’s a reminder of the way this city has evolved through destruction. The economy waits for no one.
Go ahead and press the button on the light pole to your left. Use this crosswalk to get over to the west side of Broadway. Then, cross 8th street. We’re headed for the brick-paved plaza between the tall buildings. It’s sort of a small park. Take your time and be safe. I’ll meet you there.
