Founded in 1976, Old Town Museum is a history museum dedicated to the history of the city and the surrounding region. Its exhibits delve into the logging industry which was a central driving force in Maine's economy during the late 18th and 19th centuries. The museum presents seasonal and simulation exhibits, which "simulate" what every day settings might have looked like such as a kitchen or parlor. The museum is housed in the former St. Mary's Catholic Church building. Previously, it was located in the old waterworks for 20 years.

The Old Town Museum moved into the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in 1996.
