Remington Park

Remington Park is a casino and horse racing track in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was the first world-class pari-mutuel track in the state of Oklahoma. It was built in 1988 by Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. The horse races feature American Quarter Horses that race the beginning of August through December. Remington Park also has a 365 day casino, so it can stay afloat when the horse racing is out of season. The casino was added to the park in order to bring more people to Remington Park during the down time of the horse races.

Remington Park was built in 1988 by Edward J. DeBartolo Sr., he was a shopping mall developer and owned other horse tracks in other states like Louisiana. Remington Park was officially opened on September 1, 1988. When the track first opened it had its main track laid with a synthetic surface called Equitrack. This track was suppose to be safe for all weather and provide fast conditions for all races. Sadly the track did not hold up and so Remington Park went back to the tradional natural ingredients for a racing surface. 

Remington Park was the first legalized gambling venue in Oklahoma when it opened in 1988. They have a 365 day casino that is open to all those who come to the track. The park opened up "racino" in 2005, "racino" just means a horse racing and casino in the same place. It has over 750 electronic gaming machines, no table games. The state of Oklahoma legalized "racinos" in 2004. A "racino" is basically being able to gamble and go to the horse races. Remington Park was opened in 1988 and the "racino" was put into place in 2005 to bring more people to the horse track and it was a big deal that they were the first legalized gambling venue in Oklahoma. The "racino" brought back a lot of people to Remington Park, because in 1990 the attendance began to die down.The casino is open everyday Sunday through Wednesday 10 a.m. to midnight, Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. For people wanting to gamble you must be 18 years of age. 

Remington Park also has a restaurant called Silks Restaurant it is a fine dining clubhouse restaurant. It has views of the racing and television monitors. Silks menu features steaks, seafood, salads, chicken, pastas and many desserts.They added in 2012 to the casino level the popular Bricktown Brewery. Remington Park also has a snack bar and cafes.
