Philippi, West Virginia is home to many historic places since the first battle of the Civil War was fought in Philippi. If you go through Philippi, you can't miss the Adaland Mansion. The Adaland Mansion was built in 1870 in Barbour County. Around 1850 the Adaland barn was built. Since the barn and mansion have been built, they have been restored with features of homemade brick and walnut woodwork. The mansion shows early West Virginia history.

Directions: Adaland is located on WV Route 76, four miles north of the city of Philippi. It is 22 miles from Clarksburg and can be reached by taking Interstate 79 to Exit 115. Take WV routes 20 and 57 to Philippi and proceed 3 miles on US 119N. Turn onto WV 76 for one mile. Visitors from the south can take WV Route 33 to Elkins and WV Route 250 to Philippi. Adaland is located 14 miles from Bridgeport, WV and can be reached by taking US Route 50 to WV Route 76 to Flemington (go under the railroad overpass).
