Spout Spring lies at the eastern most corner of the 16 squares. The ruin of the spring house is hidden by a grove of trees. The stone foundation of the spring still overflows with the spring water which bubbles out of the ground. As the Town and school grew, there was a need for more water than the spring could produce. By the 1905s, springs were closed and covered and Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Virginia Tech formed a Water Authority using the New River.
