The mural features silhouettes of children reading and playing, painted in blue, light blue, and ivory, and was painted by artist, and teacher, Nancy Connard. Along with her husband Kevin, the Connards volunteered with the Glendora Reads! Adult Literacy program and it was through those contacts that Nancy approached the Library about donating a mural.
The mural was commissioned by the Glendora Public Library Board of Trustees. After Connard and librarian Cindy Romero decided on a design, Connard obtained a can of paint donated by the Home Depot in San Dimas and took about four weeks to finish the mural on the ramp to the Children’s Room. "The staff has been very helpful and available to people in the community, as far as getting people to be able to read," Nancy said. "It's a neat place to go."
