Oceanside Historical Society

Historic Sites, Monuments, Landmarks, and Public Art ()


This small local history museum and archive is located in the civic building, and it also serves as the headquarters of the Oceanside Historical Society.


Native tribes inhabited this area for centuries prior to the recorded history of this community began with the creation of Mission San Luis Rey de Francia by Spanish colonists in 1798. The first pier was completed in 1888 and this was also the year that Oceanside was incorporated.
