Construction for the Westcott House began in 1904 and finished in 1906.The house was designed by famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This project was commissioned by Burton J. Westcott and his wife Orpha. She was credited with suggesting hiring Wright as the architect for their new home. Burton J. Westcott had a successful career in the auto industry. The Westcott House reflected Wright’s prairie style. After the Westcotts moved out of the property, the house was sectioned off into private apartments and fell into disrepair. In 2001, a group of preservationists undertook a $5.3 million restoration project. The house is now open for tours by the public.
