The Avoca Museum is located in the historic home of Colonel Charles Lynch. Colonel Lynch was a planter and distinguished himself as a lawmaker and a solider in Revolutionary era. After his death in 1875, the property was passed to his niece, Mary Anna Dearing Fauntleroy. In 1981, her grandson, Dr. Lindley Murray Winston, deeded the house to the Town Of Altavista.
