The Hepler family poses in front of their grocery store with Columbia School visible behind. The store was a gathering place: mail was delivered there and bands played music on the balcony. This photo was taken in 1902, in straw hat and sunbonnet weather. Local boys delivered groceries by horse and cart as far east as Lake Washington.
