This is the Fountain Inn Principal's House and Teacherage. It is the only remaining building associated with the Fountain Inn Negro School complex. The complex was also made up of four other buildings, the grade school built in 1928, a high school built in 1930, a library, and the Clayton “Peg Leg” Bates Gymnasium, built in 1942. (1)

The Principal's House and Teacherage, located in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. It was built as a home for teachers providing educational support to African Americans, and by the 1940s held both teachers and the principals family. It was given a historical marker in 2011 by the City of Fountain Inn and the Greenville County Historic Preservation Commision.

The seperate entrance to access the kitchen was located in the southwest corner. It also accomodated home economics classes. The buildings offered comfortable domestic amenities, such as front corner porches and modern bathrooms. They served as instructional facilities. (2)

Nearly identical to Plan No. 301, which is the "Teachers Home for Community Schools" for teacherages supported by the Julius Rosenwald Fund. Although constructed after the end of the program, the design is still consistent with the plans most often used for Rosenwald schools and other buildings. It was listed in the National Register on June 27, 2011. (2)
