Established in 1958, the Longview Museum of Fine Arts promotes the visual arts through its exhibitions and by interpreting and preserving of works of art. Its permanent collection consists of more than 700 paintings, works on paper, photographs, lithographs, collages, sculptures, and etchings. The majority of these works were created by Texas artists and those from Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arkansas. In addition, the museum offers art classes and a variety of public events throughout the year.

Longview Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1958 and contains a collection of more more than 700 works of art primarily by Texas and regional artists.

The Junior Service League of Longview established the museum 1958 and its first annual invitational exhibition took place the following year. Staff from the Nicholson Memorial Library operated the museum during its early years. The State of Texas chartered the museum in 1970 and the collection was placed on permanent loan. Where the museum was located during its first few decades is unclear, but it moved four times before settling at this location in 1997. After renovations were complete, the museum opened with an exhibition and workshop by photographers Ruth Bernhard ad Michael Kenna in 1998. Just down the street at the corner of Tyler and Fredonia Streets is a sculpture garden created in 2005. The museum may moved to an old bank building in the near future.
