McLarty Block
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The McLarty block was constructed in 1879. The site previously housed a tannery. The Masons symbol is carved into the building, a reminder of this building's use a Mason's meeting room. The large window in the upper centre of the block was the Mason's meeting room. Sims' recalls the "Human Fly" climbing the front of this building without the aid of ropes or ladders. "He concluded his stunt by doing a number of perilous balancing acts on the top edge of the roof with a chair."
