DICKERSON, Claude A., b. Sep 21, 1871, d. Dec 9, 1898 (AC35A-8)

Claude A. Dickerson was born in Petersburg, Illinois, and presumably moved to Pablo Beach, Florida, with his parents in the 1880s. He was the son of James Edward Dickerson of Maryland and Celenia Columbia Hurd Dickerson of Illinois. James E. Dickerson was listed as a grocer in 1900 while residing in Pablo Precinct II and as a Jacksonville real estate agent in 1910. The Dickersons were among the earliest settlers of Pablo Beach (renamed Jacksonville Beach in 1925), and considered pioneer residents of Florida, according to Mrs. Dickerson's 1936 obit.

Claude A. Dickerson was married to Minnie Dickerson and the couple had one child who died in 1897. According to Webb's Jacksonville Directory, a Claude A. Dickerson was listed as a painter. Dickerson died at his Pablo Beach home of inflammation of the bowels, his Find a Grave page said. He is believed to be one of the first Pablo Beach residents buried in what was then known as Pablo Cemetery.
