Joe DiMaggio is one of the greatest athletes of his generation. Born in 1914, he was born in a small town in the Bay Area outside of San Francisco. There was not much in this small town, and being one of nine children, Joe was an independent child. When Joe's family moved to San Francisco, it was hard for him to play baseball in the streets of such a busy place, so when he would return to visit family in Martinez, they would be able to play baseball in much more open area. DiMaggio still holds the record for most consecutive MLB games with a hit. He is arguably one of the greatest New York Yankee players of all time, and that is some very good company considering the Yankees have one of if not the most prestigious franchises in MLB history.

The birth site of Joe DiMaggio is nothing special to the naked eye, given that the house burned down in 1948. The only item to commemorate his birthplace is a plaque that is posted in his small town. What this site shows is pictures of the old house and how one of the greatest baseball players of his generation came to be raised in a small house barley big enough for 2 people, with 8 siblings.

This is a description of who Joe DiMaggio was, and how we was one of a kind in so many ways. A teammate of DiMaggio once said, "There was an aura about him. He walked like no one else walked. He did things so easily. He was immaculate in everything he did. Kings of State wanted to meet him and be with him. He carried himself so well. He could fit in any place in the world.” DiMaggio was a special person during his time, and still very special today.
