The Eustis City Hall can be found in the heart of downtown Eustis. After the two phases of construction it was completed in 1927.The building was designed by a man named Alan J. MacDonough, who also designed other historical buildings found in Eustis such as the Women's Club. The city has honored MacDonough's valuable contribution by naming a street in Eustis after him. The architecture of the city hall has full-height columns and front porches at both main entrances of the city hall. These are common architectural elements that were popular at the time of design and construction known as the Classical Revival Style.
The Eustis City Hall served multiple purposes after being built. Most importantly, it was a place for local government where the city could gather and discuss important matters. At various times, the city hall served as the headquarters of the Eustis police department, fire department, and city jail. It also was home to the town's first library. The city hall also had additional rooms where citizens could come for local organizations meetings and events. Over time as the city grew larger in size the library, jail, police department, and fire department have independent buildings from the city hall. These buildings all are relatively close in proximity to the city hall. In 2010, the Eustis City Hall was granted and recognized as a local landmark.
The Eustis City hall still holds an important role in the city. Today, it serves as a place of local government where meeting, hearings, licensing, permitting, and various other governmental functions. It is where citizens can voice concerns and recommendations to improve the city of Eustis. The city hall continues to serve as a place where citizens and government officials work and strive towards improving "America's Hometown".
