The first meeting of the Central New Jersey chapter of the National Organization for Women took place in February 1969 at Murray-Dodge Hall on the Princeton University campus. [placeholder text] W. Begins “Powder Puff Power is here,” playing on the soft pad used by women to apply cosmetic make up, and a play on “Black Power.” Weirdly, the meeting seems ot have been led by Dan Sullivan, a psychologist. But he did not become a key player in future sessions.

“It was interesting to hear many of them, so deeply worried about human welfare, advocate day care centers for children, where they will be raised by strangers, to free women from motherly chores.” [Save the highlighted quote for the child care section. Just quote this next sentence] “And it was very interesting indeed to see them react with fury when it was suggested that the world feels as it does because men have been created sexually aggressive and women passive. Actually it was rather reassuring to see a show of feeling. What with all the statistics, one felt that perhaps emotion, along with the home, was headed for the Blacklist.”
