Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial is an extension of the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum. It offers cultural exhibits on topics ranging from old Chinatown to Chinese Medicine and everyday life in China. There is also a library of books that readers can peruse. The books are available in both Chinese and English.
The interior of the space includes a large art gallery designed by Joseph Wong. On display are detailed, elaborate models of buildings in old Chinatown, San Diego. Museum patrons can enjoy rotating exhibit displays as well as lectures. Writers, artists, and academics have all been invited to speak at the lecture hall within the building.
Within the bay windows are displayed rotating exhibits on view for museum patrons. In addition, there is a statue of the First Emperor that was created by the Chinese artists, Guo Xuanchang and Cheng Yunxian, which has been placed at the front entrance. A museum store gift shop is also available on site.
