Established as "Tourist Park" in 1928, this scenic park located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River just south of the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers was renamed Freedom Park in 1982 in reference to a local eagle who became a beloved member of the community at that time. The park has long been a destination for residents and visitors who enjoy birdwatching and the scenic vistas, and thanks to the support of local leaders, it also also home to the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center. The center is open to all at no cost with staff and volunteers who work to interpret the cultural and natural history of the area. The center also provides visitor information for those heading up or down the Great River Road along the Mississippi River.

Freedom Park offers informational signs and breathtaking overlooks over the Mississippi River valley.
