In the Regina Quick Center for the Arts, there are many pieces of prestigious art on display. Nine of these pieces of art on display are part of the Hanley Collection which were pieces of art donated by philanthropist Edward Hanley. Edward Hanley was and still is one of the biggest donators to St. Bonaventure as he donated thousands of books and paintings to the university.

Edward Hanley was a Bradford, PA businessman who was born in 1893 to a very wealthy family who owned the Bradford brick factory Hanley Brick Company. After graduating high school Hanley attended Harvard University where he would start collecting rare books. After graduating from Harvard he would continue collecting and would eventually amass a ginormous collection of art. Hanley would begin donating to universities and museums in the 1940s beginning with Arizona University. His interest in St. Bonaventure started after visiting a rare collection of books on campus where he would develop a great relationship with university librarian Fr. Irenaeus Herscher. In 1942 Hanley started donating to St. Bonaventure and up until his death in 1969, he had donated thousands of books and paintings to St. Bonaventure. After his death, Edward's wife Tullah Hanley would continue his philanthropist efforts.
