New London Historical Society

The New London Area Historical Society was formed on July 16th, 1985 by Martha Sturges and Tom Neel. The purpose of the Society is to create and build interest in preserving and collecting historical records for New London and the surrounding townships. The first officers were Martha Sturges, President; Tom Neel, Vice President; Pam Warthling, Secretary; and Harold Kirkpatrick, Treasurer. Current officers effective 2021 are Tom Neel, President; Michael Crabbs, Vice President; Marie Landis, Secretary; and Stacy Crabbs, Treasurer. Today we meet on the third Sunday of every month in the store-front Museum at 13 East Main Street, New London.

The New London Area Historical Society operates a store-front museum in downtown New London which offers two floors of displays on this southeastern corner of the Firelands. We emphasize local businesses, schools, railroads (NYC, ACY), industries (CE Ward Co., Ohio Body), and early families. Our library contains local newspapers, histories, scrapbooks, diaries, and village records.
