This wayside exhibit displays a photograph taken of Abraham Lincoln during his days as a lawyer, clean shaven and wearing a clean white suit. The photograph was taken following Lincoln's famous Almanac trial in which he contradicted a witness' testimony by proving their story was inaccurate as they testified the moon had been full on the night when the crime occurred, when in fact it had not.

This famous photograph, depicting Abraham Lincoln in his younger days as a lawyer, was taken as a celebration of Lincoln's famous Almanac Trial. During this trial a key witness testified they had seen the accused by the light of the full moon. Lincoln, taking out an Almanac, brought to the judge's attention that the moon at the day and time of the crime would have just been peeking over the horizon, and would have been in its first quarter, meaning that the light provided by the moon would not have allowed for clear sight of the crime as it occurred.
