Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The Walsh Science Center is one of the most state of the art buildings here at St. Bonaventure University. It was built in dedication to William F. Walsh in the year of 2008, in the hopes of attracting more students towards the science programs. This $14.6 million building was built to stand parallel to De La Roche Hall, and it houses a 150-seat amphitheater and all the tools necessary to make it a state of the art science building. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this building saw interesting revisions to help ensure that it was a safe environment for teaching. As a result, new seating charts were developed to help promote social distancing for the students.

This building was developed in the hopes of attracting more students looking to get involved in science, mathematics, or even engineering. The Walsh Science Center is a 46,500 square foot complex that connects directly to the oldest academic building here at St. Bonaventure University, De La Roche Hall. This building contains multiple laboratory spaces, classrooms, an amphitheater, and faculty offices. James T. Walsh, son of the 1934 graduate that the building was named after, was able to secure NASA funding for this project, making it one of the most high tech buildings on campus. This building is one of the more recent additions to the campus.
