Forest History Center
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The Forest History Center, located in Grand Rapids and operated by the Minnesota Historical Society, strives to educate the public about people's changing relationship with the forest. To achieve this end, visitors can learn about the state's logging industry in the visitor center and a recreated logging camp, hike on trails, and participate in various educational programs, many of which take place outside and are geared for children. Visitors can also learn about forest fires and the impact that unmanaged logging can have on forests. The center offers signature events, including "Be a Lumberjack Children's Day" and "The Great Minnesota Pie Extravaganza."
