Grimsby Park was taken over by Harry H. Wylie, a public relations man from Cleveland, soon after the Methodist Camp Ground Company went bankrupt in 1909. He took down the high fence that surrounded the park, dropped strict Methodist rules and established an amusement and

midway area. In 1910 Albert Moore constructed permanent motion picure theatre at the park. The first

between St. Catharines and Hamilton. Admission, was a nickel. Later, two carousels, a snake charmer, a shooting gallery, an octopus tank, the “Electric Lady”, fish pond and a wooden roller coaster, were added. In 1913 the park was purchased by Canada Steamship Lines.

In 1916 a feris wheel and roller skating rink were installed and in 1933, a miniature train. By the mid 1920s the park settled down as a quiet summer cottage area.
