(photo captions) 19^th century houses, seen in the background, were still prevalent in Tacoma’s Central Business District when a postal employee posed with his horse drawn mail cart in front of the post office’ 12^th Street entrance about 1920.

Letter carriers and postal workers have been based at the Federal Building since its construction in 1910. The 2010 photo shows that little has changed on the exterior.
