Home of L.C.Patteson as of 1922, the father of Okey Patteson, WV's 23rd Governor, and later Gov. Patteson's home. L.C. Patteson was the son of Henry Patteson, who owned the Patteson Farm in Nicholas County. The Patteson Farm was the location of the battle of Carnifex Ferry. L.C. Patteson moved his family to the bustling berg of Mount Hope before the Great Fire of 1910 from Dingess, Mingo County. In the Great Fire, he would suffer a total loss of over $7,500 (2021, ~$212,522).
