The Che Figata building is currently an Italian restaurant. But it hasn't always been a restaurant. In the early 1900’s it used to be a convenience store. The building then got changed into the “Coxsackie Cash Food and Liquor Store.” The store was owned by Clifford Hyman. He then retired from ownership of the shop in 1970. Multiple restaurants came from the lot. Reed street was the first. Then it got rebranded to blue water bistro. Lastly the storm king. Then the name got changed to its present day name “Che figata.”

The present day Che Figata building has lots of history behind it. The building hasn’t always been a restaurant, the ownership has changed many times and the business inside as well. It is a three story building with Victorian commercial style architecture. Che figata is an Italian restaurant. The restaurant is an overall well liked restaurant with a 4.5 star review on google with 174 reviews. Che figata (pronounced kay fah-GAH-tah) in Italian means “cool” . Some people also say it also means “that’s awesome.” During the summer time the restaurant offers outdoor seating and year round inside seating. They offer take out and catering.
The lot was originally purchased by Eliakim Reed Robert. Henry Van Bergen purchased the land from Eliakim in 1854. The fire knocked out many buildings on Reed street including the Che figata building. Robert was hired to widen Reed street and replace some structures that had been destroyed by the fire. Van Bergan was an engineer and also hired the contractor named James Johnson to help build multiple brick buildings. In the early 1990’s In the early 1900 George t. Morgan operated a store In the building. In the store he sold radios, electrical supplies, hardware sporting goods, heating and plumbing supplies, tools and other household items. The store was basically a convenience store and one could find anything they needed to
fix the inside of their house. The store then got sold to Clifford Hyman. He turned the store into a liquor store. The store was called “Coxsackie Cash Food and Liquor Store” he also sold groceries, soda, candy and also ice cream. Hyman retired from the store's ownership in 1970. The building became vacant for several years. It was a group of owners that ran the restaurant Reeds landing bought the lot. Multiple restaurants came from the lot. Reed street was the first. Then it got rebranded to blue water bistro. Lastly the storm king. Then the name got changed to its present day name “Che figata.”
