In 1950 the U.S. Postal Service built a new post office in Leander. It served the community through the 1970s until a new post office was built at the corner of 183 and Sonny Dr.
Since the postal service vacated this building it has housed several restaurants and has recently become the home to a new Maggie Mae's location, known as an iconic 6th St. bar in Austin.
