Home to the Gretna State fish hatchery which is the oldest hatchery in the State of Nebraska and dates back to 1882, Schramm Park State Recreation Area also includes walking trails and sites for bird watching. This recreation area has an educational center that includes exhibits and information about area flora and fauna in the region.

Residents of Gretna, Nebraska recognized the importance of a fish hatchery and dedicated resources to open the first in the area in 1882. Also home to Schramm Park with recreation and walking trails, as well as the Schramm education center that was newly renovated in 2019.
