Father Tim Quinn (1917-1995) was a friar, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and at one time a Dean at St. Bonaventure University. Among his many accomplishments, he was a Korean War veteran, serving as a chaplain and obtaining the rank of captain. Because of his bravery in the face of danger, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Korean Service medal. During his time at the university, he developed a unique relationship with the people of the Seneca Nation, even being adopted into its Hawk Clan in 1979 and given the name Dahuttehtah, meaning “he enlightens”. He is also known as a champion of the canonization of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, who is a saint of ecology along with St. Francis. He also served masses at St. John the Baptist Church in Vandalia, NY, playing an important role to the parishioners of the Seneca Nation. Unfortunately, the church has since been demolished.
