Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The Gold Nugget Museum was founded in 1973 and its mission is to preserve the history of Chico during the Gold Rush period. The museum houses artifacts from this period and actively engages the community through hands on events such as Days of Living History, Gold Nugget Days, and school programs in which students spend a day at the museum learning about life in the 1850s. The museum also has a collection of Maidu Native American artifacts, a replica Blacksmith's shop, miner's cabin, hotel, barbershop, and gold sluices.
