This museum is located within the Calhoun Bridge Center in Clemson, SC. The Calhoun Bridge Center was the last all-Black school in that particular area of Pickens County. Today the Center is home to not only the museum, but to the Clemson Child Development Center and the Arts Center of Clemson. Plans to create this museum began in 2002 and in August 2007 several community members came together to create the museum.The Clemson Area African American Museum is continually being updated and improved.

The best way to learn about current events and exhibits is to visit the museum’s Facebook page; visitors will find the latest information about exhibits and museum programming. The museum currently hosts a Third Sunday Event in which they feature local speakers presenting on a variety of topics.1
