The Zwaanendael Museum was established in 1931 in Lewes, Delaware to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the first European settlement in the state in 1631. The museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the local maritime, military and social history. Topics of the exhibits include shipwrecks, lighthouses, and the British bombardment of during the War of 1812.
