Built in 1929 by the Coastline Shipbuilding Company, Fireboat No. 1 served the Tacoma area for over five centuries. This is one of only five fireboats that is listed on the National Register. The vessel is unique in that it was designed as a fireboat in an era when most fireboats were simply converted tugboats. The vessel is now in permanent dry dock in Tacoma.
