Paul College began as the Whittemore School of Business and Economics initially named after Laurence Whittemore, who served as a UNH Trustee from 1944-1960. In 2008 $25 million dollars was donated by Peter T. Paul to the school to create a state-of-the-art facility. Re-built to be an astounding 115,000 square feet, it was renamed Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics. Peter T. Paul is CEO of Headlands Asset Management LLC and owns West Biofuels in connection to the Peter Paul Wines. In 1967, he received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UNH and is a proud alumnus of the school.
Paul College has various unique offerings that make it stands out as the best public business school. It engages students with special programs such as F.I.R.E. and BiPs, as well as many other offerings when it comes to studying abroad, internships, and a plethora of resources for its attendees. F.I.R.E. also known as First-year Innovation and Research Experience is a special all-year program for its first-year students to encourage engagement on campus and get these students accustomed to life on campus. Each student is assigned to a peer advisor and will attend a weekly class where they learn skills for their college career and work with their teammates to create a product/service that encourages them to solve real-world problems. BiPs, also known as Business in Practice, offers students real-world classes through 4 aspects: social, analytical, competitive, and professional where they are able to learn how to engage in classes taught by professionals in their sector.
When it comes to the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics sign on the front of the building, is very institutional. The font in use is a serif font, however, it holds some originality with the bowl of the P being detached from the stem. Due to this, the font in use on the front, and side of the building is most likely Breughel Pro 55 Roman. This originality with the texts creates an inviting entrance for students, rather than a fully traditional font, it could signify the unique learning opportunities and atmosphere that Paul College offers to its students.
