Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The Akwesasne Cultural Center, located in Hogansburg, New York, is a local museum and gathering place serving the Akwesane Mohawk Native Americans and the wider community. IT was founded in 1971 as a library to provide classes to the native community which was witnessing a high dropout rate. The library began to receive donations for the cultural classes it was offering. These items eventually became the museum collection, which now numbers 2,000 photographic objects and 200 ethnographic items. The general public is welcome to visit the center.
